QUESTION:
If the color of a candle darkens, how will it affect the burning time of the candle? |
VARIABLES:
Manipulated Variable: The darkness of the candle going from blue to green, green to pink, pink to yellow, yellow to white. Operational Definition: Take 3 of every different color of candle going darkest to lightest and have 3 different trials for each color Responding Variable: The burning time of the candle Operational Definition: light 5 different candles one at a time and see how long it takes them to burn and then repeat the process 2 more times. Controlled Variables: brand of candles, size of candle, matches used, environment (place, wind, etc), what they're lit with (lighter or matches), same person lighting them, if someone blows on the candle |
HYPOTHESIS:
If the color of the candle is darker then it will burn slower because the dark dye in the candle makes it thicker and harder to burn through |
